Throughout the year, the European American Basketball Network (EABN) will hold major events in the northern regions of the Netherlands giving players the opportunity to present themselves to American coaches and scouts. EABN is seeking for the best players from all over Europe, providing them with the once in a lifetime opportunity to be seen by American coaches and possibly be recruited by American universities with some of the best basketball programs in the world.
Do you want to see how you match up against others in your age group and learn about the international opportunities to play basketball?
At these events you will be fully evaluated by former American professional basketball players and coaches. The tournament will be comprised of drills and scrimmaging. In the drills we’ll be looking at the skills the you possess, your general athleticism, speed, quickness, focus, desire, etc. You might have real natural athleticism or size, but still need to develop the skills that make you unique. We will find those skills! The evaluation you will receive will let you know where you stand and what’s going to be required if you’re interested in getting a college scholarship in America or playing professionally in Europe.
The first event will be an Open 200 event hosted for ambitious basketball players between 14 and 18 years of age. The tournament will be held at the Willem Alexander Sport-centrum in Groningen on the 20th and 21st of May. It is organized by Sport students of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen in collaboration with former professional basketball player Drew Henderson, coaches and former players from USA universities.
The tournament is a great opportunity not only to learn and improve, but also to meet the other players from around the region. There will be 200 players expected at the open tournament and there are only a number of spots left. The sign up fee will include everything, even accommodation and food for participants (excluding caretakers/ parents/ relatives). Furthermore, the open tournament 200 provides you the one time opportunity to be invited to the elite tournament. During the Elite tournament further scouts and coaches from America will come to the Netherlands to focus once again on your potential as a future professional basketball player. Special guests during the event will be the Head Coach of NBA team Charlotte Hornets - Steve Clifford. The Elite tournament will be free of charge!
